Nintendo's First Full OP Year - 2004 In Review Many Pokemon Organized Play Events took place in 2004. It was definatly a year to remember for Pokemon. ~*~January~*~ -Plans for a new Professor test released ~*~February~*~ -2003/2004 OP Season City Championships held ~*~March~*~ -EX: Team Aqua vs. Team Magma prereleases and set release -Release of Pokemon Colliseum for GCN ~*~April~*~ -2003/2004 State Championships held (Ours were on my birthday...) ~*~May~*~ -2003/2004 Gym Challenge series starts around the US -Information for 2004 World Championships released ~*~June~*~ -EX: Hidden Legends prereleases and set released ~*~July~*~ -National Championships and Stadium Challenge series -Toys R' Us 'Pokemon Play Days' began ~*~August~*~ -World Championships 2004 held in Orlando, FL (with Japan sweeping all 3 divisions) -EX: Fire Red and Leaf Green prereleases and set released ~*~September~*~ -Release Fire Red and Leaf Green GBA games -New league starts called the Sevii Islands league -OP Series 1 set released ~*~October~*~ -New Modified format takes effect (EX-on) -EX: Team Rocket Returns prereleases ~*~November~*~ -EX: Team Rocket Returns released -2004/2005 City Championships series starts ~*~December~*~ -Professor program starts -Player rewards are announced The plans for 2005 are astounding! With City Championships continuing into the month of January, with EX: Deoxys coming out in February, and with State Championships in March, 2005 looks like a great OP year as well!
